The Life of Robert R Meador

Obituary.

Mrs. Eliza Meador, died September 11th, 1889 at her home, three miles North East of Olathe. She was born in Campbell Countv Va. Sept. 8th 1820 hence was over 69 years of age. She was a member of the M. E. church for fifty years. The mother of eleven children; five of whom had passed before her to the spirit land, and one died three days after she did in a house across the road, from where his mother was carried to the tomb. Her calm, peaceful farewell gave us assurance that she basks in the sunshine of the Saviors love in that land where "There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away."

Robert R. Meador, died on Sept. 14th, 18S9 in Oxford township, Johnson county Kansas, at the age of 32 years. Virginia was his native state; he was a member of the German Baptist Society. One of the men in whom there was no guile, now we as friends stand dumb in view of the sad scenes it was ours to witness last week. Mr. Meador's mother, died after one weeks illness, and was buried on Thursday and her son a few yards from her home was unconscions of the fact, and before day-break Saturday the swift messenger death, came for him and they spent their first Sabbath together in the home above. There was very serious illness in two other families of the Meador brothers this fall, but two were taken who were heads of families, while children are yet spared. We only see the side of the cloud next the earth, and it looks very dark, but the ruler of all the earth doeth wisely. His ways are past our understanding for a God comprehended is no God at all.

“Over the river they have gone.
One waited not for the other,
We think we hear the son exclaim
"Why ! are you here too mother?"

But in the home eternal.
Fathers house beyond the skies
We shall have precious greetings
And glorious be our surprise.
