Death of Mrs. Myers.
Mrs. Elizabeth Myers, widow of the late Samuel Myers, well known to the residents of Olathe, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. W. Ingrim, in Mt. Sterling. Ohio, Tuesday, May 14, of paralysis of the heart. The body was met in Chicago by her son O. C. Myers and brought to Olathe Friday morning of last week and was taken to the home of W. C. Elder, remaining until the hour of the funeral service which was held in the M. E. church at 2 o'clock conducted by Rev. J. D. M. Buckner assisted by Rev. A. V. Stout.
A large number of old friends gathered to pay their last tribute of respect. Mrs. Myers was born in Clark county, Ohio, October 9, 1821, and was married to Samuel Myers July 5, 1838. To them were born ten children, two of whom died in infancy. Mary Jones, Alice and Lewis Myers died several years ago, while five children still survive her Mrs. John W.. In grim of Mt. Sterling, Ohio, E. T. Myers of Grapeland, Cal., Samuel G. Myers of Sioux City, Iowa, Orla C. Myers of Chanute, Kan., and Mrs. Ada Notemau of Kansas City, Mo. Mrs. Myers was raised a Quaker and remained true to her religion to the day of her death. In 1869 she came to Olathe, Kan., in company with her husband and then large family and was the last of this family to leave Olathe, which occurred at the time of the death of Miss Allie Myers, some two or three years ago. She was therefore one of the oldest members of Olathe society where she was always respected and loved by all who knew her. Mrs. Myers was a charter member of Anchor Chapter No 3. Order of the Eastern Star.
