The Life of Sarah J Morgan

Mrs. Dr. J. B. Morgan, of Joplin Mo., died last Thursday morning at the home at that place, and was brought to Olathe, and laid by the side of her son and daughter who were burried there, years ago, while tho Dr. and Mrs. lived in Olathe. The old friends of the Doctor and Mrs. Morgan turned out and assisted in the funeral services. Dr. and Mrs. Morgan first settled in Johnson County, at Shawnee, about the year 1857. When the war came on the Dr. with his family went to California and about the 1869 returned to Olathe and opened up a Drug store and afterwards sold out and moved to Joplin Mo. where they have resided ever since. The Dr. is about 63 years of age, and is left alone in the world, with the exception of a neice of Mrs. Morgan, a Miss Sallie Woods, whom the Dr. and Mrs. Morgan have cared for ever since she was two years old. The Dr. amd Miss Sallie have the sympathy, and heart felt sorrow of the entire community iin their bereavement.

Mrs. J. B. Morgan died at her home in Joplin, Mo., last Thursday morning, July 13th,on the anniversary ot her 64th birthday. Her body was brought to Olathe, and the funeral services were held at the M. E. church at 4:30 p. m. riday. A number of old Olathe friends ot the deceased escorted the remains from the K. C. Ft. S. & G. depot to the church, and after services there, followed them to their last resting place in Olathe cemetery, by the side of her only son and daughter, who were buried there many years ago.
Dr. and Mrs. Morgan were among the oldest settlers ot Johnson county, having located in Shawnee in 1857, where the Dr. carried on a large mercantile house and practiced his profession for several years. Tliey removed to Georgia just betore the war of the rebellion set in, where they remained until the sanguinary conflict was brought to a close. He then located in Olathe, engaging in the drug business and the practice ot medicine. Several years ago he removed to Joplin, Mo., re-engaging in the drug business but giving up the practice of medicine, only among intimate friends. The Dr. is 68 years old and is now left alone, without any near relatives, at this advanced age, and he has the sympathy of a large circle of friends in Olathe and Johnson county in his loneliness.
