Obituary
William Theo. Sloan one of the well-known citizens of Johnson county, died at the home of his daughters, Mrs. Ella Wade and Miss Lida Sloan in Kansas City on Christmas day at the age of sixty-one years.

William Theo. Sloan was born in Illinois and lived with his parents until 1866 when he came to Kansas. As a young man he worked in the blacksmith shop for his father. He was united in marriage to Miss Annie Rooney on June 20th, 1872. To this union five children were born: J. J. Sloan of Topeka, Wm. Henry Sloan who died in infancy, Gilbert H. Sloan of Olathe, Mrs. Ella Wade of Kansas City, Kansas and Miss Sloan of Kansas City, Kansas.

Mr. and Mrs. Sloan have been making their home with their daughters Ella and Lida for the past year on account of their poor health.

Mr. Sloan was crossing watchman for the Frisco for several years and was working in this capacity when he took a paralitic stroke on March 15th 1912 since which time he has been unable to care for himself. Everything possible was done to restore him to health but without success. After the first stroke it seemed to be impossible to ward off other strokes.

Mr. Sloan's daughters were with him at the time of his death, which came at 5:10 p. m. Christmas day at the daughters home 244 North 30th St., Kansas City, Kansas. About 3:30 p. m. Christmas day he took worse and his sons J. J. of Topeka and Gilbert of Olathe were at once notified by phone, but the end came before either could get to his beside.
