The Life of Edward Watts

Edward Watts of the Cherry Lane neighborhood died Wednesday, October 2, aged 68 years. Burial in Olathe cemetery.

EDWARD WATTS.

Edward Watts, passed away last Thursday morning, at his home a quarter of a mile east of the Cherry Lane school house, after an ilness of many months, cancer of the stomach was the cause of his death.

Mr. Watts, was born in Hunt, Ontario, February 14, 1839, and moved to Illinois and later, some twenty years ago to Kansas City. He was a stock-buyer in the Kansas City stockyards. Two years ago on account of failing health he bought a farm five miles north of Olathe and moved his family there. Mr. Watts was a thorough Christian and had been a member of the Congregational church for many years. He was a kind indulgent father and a friend in need to all who knew him. He was a Mason and loved his lodge and all his brother Masons.

The funeral was held at the home and was conducted by Rev. W. M. Elledge and a quartet from the Olathe Congregational choir. Interment was in Olathe cemetery. The services at the grove was conducted by the Olathe Masonic  lodge in charge of T. A. Sutton. The following were the pallbearers Messrs John Glover, F. R. Lanter, J. W. Parker, Tom Noland, Q. H. Hyer 

Mr. Watts left a wife, one son and six daughters to mourn his loss. Our hearts go out to them in their berevement and our prayer for them is that the Father in Heaven will bless and comfort them.
