WIILLIAM HENRY WAGNER.
William Henry Wagner was born in Knox County, Ohio, July 19, 1842. He moved to Mason County, Ill. in the early 50's and enlisted from that county on the 18th day of July 1862 in Company K, 85th Regiment, Illinois Volunteer Infantry and received an honorable discharge in the 5th day of June 1865 by reason of the close of the war.
 
He was united in marriage to Miss Marie D. White at Bloomington, 111., March 8, 1870, from which union two children were born Bert, who now lives in Joplin, Mo., and Mrs. A. H. Lapham, of Los Angeles, Calif., who, with his wife, survive him. He moved to Johnson county in 1873 and has been a continuous resident since that time.
 
He was a member of Franklin Post No. 68, Department of Kansas Grand Army of the Republic of which he was commander. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church for more than forty years. He was faithful to the end and has been transferred from the church Militant to the church Triumphant in the realms of the blessed there.
 
Why should we mourn when another star shines out from the glittering sky? Do we weep when the drill of war and the rage of conflict die? 'And why do our tears roll down and our hearts be sorejy riven for another gem in our Saviour's crown. Another soul is in heaven. Amen.
