The Life of Carolyn S Woolsey

Carolyn S. Woolsey, 65, of Olathe, Kansas passed away surrounded by her loving husband and family on Monday, April 1, 2013. She will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to everyone she met. Carolyn was born on July 21, 1947 in Fulton, Kansas to Otis Lawrence and Thressia Idesa (Van Guilder) Cress. Carolyn and her family moved to the city of Olathe in 1951.She was baptized in water when she was sixteen years old. She attended and graduated from Olathe High School in 1966. Soon after graduation on July 12, 1966 she married the love of her life Larry Woolsey. Together they raised two sons: Larry Jr. who was born in 1970, and five years later they were blessed a second time with their son Troy.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially her loving grandchildren. At one time in her life she was a roller skating teacher, she also enjoyed listening to music, going camping with her family, she loved hummingbirds, looking for garage sales around the neighborhood and watching Dancing with the Stars. Carolyn worked for DeNeves Shoe Company in downtown Olathe for 20 years. She was a faithful and dedicated worker for Walmart from where she retired in 1988, and later she worked part time at Santa Fe Trail Middle School. Carolyn kept herself busy all her life, but most importantly to her were her grandchildren, she loved spending time and spoiling them the most.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents: Otis and Thressia Cress, sister: Mildred Laming, brother: Roy Cress and brother-in-law: Delbert Winklepleck. She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Larry D. Woolsey, two sons: Larry D. Woolsey Jr. and his wife Dena and Troy Woolsey and his wife Elizabeth. Left behind to cherish her memory are her four grandchildren, “Grandma’s Girls” Erica Woolsey, Taylor Woolsey and Kennedy Woolsey and her “Precious Moment” and “Peach” Logan Woolsey. Carolyn is also survived by her brother: Donnie Cress and his wife Carol along with two sisters: Judy Farmer and Betty Winklepleck. She will be sadly missed by her two faithful companions: “punkie” and “country”. Carolyn was cremated according to her wishes.

A memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home 105 East Loula Street Olathe, Kansas. A private Inurnment will take place at a later date in Olathe Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2013 at the funeral home.
