The Life of John W Woolf

JOHN WOLFE.

Just as the Mirror went to press last week, word reached Olathe that John Wolfe had died at his late home in Dwight, Kansas. Mr. Wolfe was well and favorably known here having been a citizen of this county for many years.

In his death those of earlier days were reminded of the death of his brother, familiarly known as "Tip" Wolfe, who died while sowing grain in his field.

John Wolfe died Tuesday of last week about four o'clock. He had been very busy digging potatoes and had been working hard. His wife told him not to work so hard, but her husband remarked that he wanted to get done as he was expecting a visit from his daughter, and that he wanted to be so that he might play with her baby when they came. He was looking forward to a happy visit and so wanted to get through his work and likely did not realize that he was laboring unusually hard.

He came to the house Tuesday afternoon about four o'clock and complained of a pain in thes region of his heart. His wife asked him to call a doctor but he did not agree to the plan as he said he would soon be all right.

But he grew worse rapidly and soon consented for his wife to call a physician. She left Mr. Wolfe sitting in a chair and went across the street to a neighbors to reach a phone that she might summon a doctor. She met her neighbor coming to the Wolfe home and when she was informed of Mr. Wolfe's illness went back to her house to make the call for Mrs. Wolfe, who on returning as quickly as she could found her husband lying on a couch with a pillow over his head and on taking it off discovered him dead. Of course the cause of his death was heartfailure.

His son telegraphed Ed Ripley to make arrangements for the funeral and on Thursday the remains arrived accompanied by his family and were taken to the Methodist church where funeral services were held, Rev. Mr. Bowman, the pastor, officiating. Interment was had in the Olathe cemetery, attended by friends and neighbors of these early days. Deceased was-about 66 years of age.
