The Life of Theodore Leroy Wiswell

T. L. Wiswell, who died of paralysis at his home in Olathe on July 27, was a well known and highly esteemed citizen. He was sixty-one years old at the time of his death. Mr. Wiswell was born in Union county, Ohio, in 1826, and followed the tanner's trade for a number of years. He was also engaged in the mercantile business until 1869, when he moved to Olathe and built what is known as the Wiswell block on east Park street and there engaged in the grocery business for a number of years. Mr. Wiswell served during the war as a member of Company D, One hundred and thirty-sixth Regiment Ohio Infantry. He was a member of the Masonic fraternity, having served as master of his lodge in Ohio for eight consecutive years and was also a member of Olathe Chapter, No. 10, R. A, M., of Olathe. His funeral occurred on Monday, June 28, and was conducted by the Masonic fraternity, a large number of citizens attending. Rev. A. V. Stout preached the funeral sermon.
