The Life of James Nesbitt

Died, April 21st, at his residence in Oxford township, Mr. Jas. Nesbitt in the 53rd year of his age.
Mr. Nesbitt was born in Ireland, where his father still survives him. At an early age he emigrated to American, settling In Ohio, and coming to Kansas about the year 1865. At the breaking out of the war he enlisted in the 100 day service, at the expiration of which he returned to his family and his home. His last illness was a very short one. He went out on the morning of the 21st in his usual health, to work on his farm. During the forenoon he was noticed, by his neighbors, to stop frequently as if  to rest. At 10 a. m. the hired man plowing near by saw him start toward the house, but thought no more of it. Going home at noon and finding that Mr. Nesbitt had not returned to the house, search was made and he was found near where he had been working, lying with his hat over his face, but unable to speak or move. The best medical aid was obtained but he died on Saturday at 3 a. m. He was buried on Saturday afternoon, followed by a very large concourse of sorrowing neighbors and friends. Mr. N. was, at the time of his death, and had been for many years a member of the United Presbyterian church and was a devoted christian. His honesty and strict integrity were doubted by none, and his presence in the church and community will long be missed by his friends and neighbors among whom he was held in the highest esteem. He left a widow, a grown son and three daughters. It is the opinion of his physicians that a blood vessel was ruptured in the head thus causing paralysis.
