The Life of Hattie L Sutton

Of Consumption, on Tuesday morning the 14th inst., Hattie L, daughter of J.E. and J. Sutton, in the 16th year of her age.

Her bereaved parents will find it hard to fill this vacant place in the family circle, but they are consoled by the thought that she died in peace without pain; having said a few minutes before death that she “wanted to go to sleep.” Although so young, she believed in the “fatherhood of God and the Brotherhood of man.” She worshipped Him in the works of His hands – in the starry Heavens and the smiling valleys, in the beautiful flowers, the running waters and shady woods, rather than through the medium of any narrow exclusive creed. She did not look on this world as a decaying world, as much worse than it once was, but as a student of Nature she believed that we are ever advancing in development.
