The Life of Omer T Tibbetts
Died, at his home 5 miles east of Ocheltree, Saturday, July 18, 1896, of paralysis, Omer T. Tibbetts, aged fifty-three years. Mr. Tibbets was one of the early settlers of Johnson county, coming here in the fall of 1868, and had resided in the neighborhood where he died during all these years. He enlisted in 1862 in Company C, 16 Regiment Indiana Infantry and was discharged at the close of the war. He was also a member of Franklin Post No. 68 of Olathe and was an earnest and cousistent advocate of the principles of that organization. About a year ago he was stricken with partial paralysis and gradually grew worse until he died. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. R. H. Fife of Olathe Sunday and hs remains were interred in the Olathe cemetery.
