The Life of Elizabeth M Williamson

Mrs. Elizabeth Williamson died December 8th at 10 o'clock p.m., at her home ath the corner of Woodland and Poplar streets. She was born on July 3, 1836, thus making her 83 years, 5 months and 5 days old. Pneumonia was the cause of her death. The funeral services were held from the Congregational church at 2 o'clock on Tuesday, December 9th. Rev. Fitch officiating. Interment in Olathe Cemeterey.

Miss Elizabeth Weber was born July 3, 1830 at Devonshire, England. At the age of 21 she came to America and two years later, in 1853, was married to James Williamson of Bellview, Ohio, Rev. Barber of the Congregational church performing the ceremony. They were both members of the Congregational church at the time they were married. They moved to Kansas in 1859, settling first in Bourbon county, near Ft. Scott and later, in 1869, moved to Johnson county, Kansas, on a farm northeast of Olathe. Mr. Williamson died on January 13, 1875. To this union ten children were born, five of whom died in infancy and one at the age of nine years. Four sons survive: Chas. E. of Olathe; J.F. of Geneseo, Kas.; Geo. E. of Terre Haute, Ind.; and Stephen of Kansas City, Kansas.
Mrs. Williamson was a truly "dear old lady." She was sweet, lovable and gracious and possessed that peace of mind that is the reward of a life well lived and a duty performed. A woman whom it was a pleasure to know because she possessed those wonderful traits of character which can only be realized to their fullest extent in the life that has long been directed by a mind trained in love and unselfishness.
