The Life of Carman Charles Payne

Carman Charles "Bud" Payne, M.D., 86, died April 12, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City, MO. Bud was the only child of Carman Green and Julia (Hames) Payne of Olathe, KS. After high school graduation, Bud joined the Army Air Corp and flew the "Hump" during WWII, earning a Distinguished Flying Cross and two air medals. Bud received a B.A. degree from the University of Chicago and a J.D. Degree from the University of Kansas. After practicing law briefly and serving as a law clerk to the Kansas 10th Circuit Court of Appeals, Bud earned a M.D. Degree from Albert Ludwigs Universitaet of Freiburg, Germany. Ill health prevented him from practicing medicine; however he did medical/legal evaluations on returning to the Kansas City area. He is survived by his wife, Rhoda and son Christopher of Washington, D.C. There will be a private graveside service.
