Died, January 17, 1897, at the home of his son in St. Louis, of pneumonia, David Monfort, aged seventy-nine years. Mr. Monfort was born near Monroe, Butler county, Ohio, June 3, 1817 and was married to Matilda King, December 10, 1845. He moved to Johnson county in 1879 and lived on a farm in Monticello township until a few years ago. He united with the Presbyterian church at an early age and served as ruling elder for a number of years. The funeral services were conducted by tbe Rev. A. V. Stout of Olathe Wednesday, January 20, and his remains were interred in the Olathe cemetery.
