William B. Nichols died at the home,, of his sister, Mrs. L. Dayhuff, Saturday morning, November 30. Funeral services were held from the home Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. J. D. M. Buckner assisted by Rev. A. V. Stout, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Olathe cemetery. Mr. Nichols was no stranger in this county although for more than thirty years he had been absent until about two months ago when he left his home in Texas and came to his sister here in Olathe, as he said, to die. He was an old soldier being first lieutenant in Company C, Twelfth Kansas, under Col. J. E. Hayes. The funeral was in charge of the G. A. R. post at this place who in a body accompanied the remains to its last resting place.
