WILLIAM JULIEN IS DEAD.
 
The community was shocked on Tuesdav morning to learn of the death of William Julien on the evening before, Monday, at 9 o'clock. He had been sick for sometime but his death was not expected.
 
Mr. Julien has resided in Olathe since about 1867 For manv years he was one of Olathe's prominent business men bdeg engaged in the livery business. About five years ago he sold out that business and has had charge since that timeof the implement house of the Home Mercantile company of this city.
 
He was for many years prominent in political circles, and was sheriff of the county from 1880 to 1884. He stood high in the councils of his party for many years.
 
In Masonic circles he has always been a most active and influential member. He has been Worshipful Master of Olathe Lodge No. 19. A. F. and A. M., for several years, and has been Eminent Commander of Olathe Commandery No. 39 Knights Templar. He was also at one time an officer in the Masonic Grand Lodge of Kansas. In others of the secret orders, also, he has been a zealous member. He passed the chairs in Harmony Lodge, No. 84, I. O. O. F. and was a member of the Knights of Pythias.
 
But more than all, did Mr. Julien endear himself to his friends by his invariable good nature, and whole-heartedness. He was a loyal friend.
 
The funeral was held from the home at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon under the auspices of the Masonicorder, mau attending from nighborhood lodges. A large concourse of mourning relatives and neighbors attended.
 
The community loses one of its most prominent members, one who will be long and kindly remembered. Mr. Julien was born in Ohio. He was 61 years old.
