The Life of Peter Julien

Death of Dr. Julien.
Dr. Peter Julien was born in Warren county, Ohio, April 15, 1811, and died in Olathe April 16,1898. Eighty-seven years and one day, of life, a few years more than is usually allotted, but not too many to be filled with honest, faithful conscientious labor for the benefit of mankind.
Sixty-four years of active work  in his chosen profession and never the night too dark nor stormy for him to answer the call of distress, never himself too weary to minister to the comfort of others. For half a century he has lived the precepts he so earnestly advocated of brotherly love, relief and trust, and faithful to the obligation branded upon his heart.
He was the originator of the Order of the Eastern Star in this place, himself bringing Robert Morris here in the year 1871 and has been a faithful attendant ever since, never losing his interest in the shining rays from which eminated the light of his beloved order "and whose colors shone around him from the floral emblem as he lay in his casket."
"Oh, the good we all may do," sang he choir at his funeral. The song take in consideration with Dr. Julien's life; a sermon of itself. Was there ever a day in which he failed to find a place to do a good deed ? Was there ever a time when his crust was too small to be divided with another? Never murmuring, always cheerful and happy, life seemed full for him. Many a cloud has he lined with silver for the widow and the fatherless, many a step has he taken to save the feet of another. Surely of such will the Master say, "Well done, good and faithful servant.
Rev. A. V. Stout assisted by Rev. D. R. Steiner conducted the services at the home, after which the Masonic Lodges took charge of the body and with their solemn and impressive ceremonies bade it farewell and laid it to rest in its allotted place in Olathe cemetery.
