An Old Citizen Gone
Mrs. Mary Macy died Sunday night at the residence of ber daughter, Mrs. M. M. Newby, in southwest Olathe. aged 81 years. She was carried off by the infirmities incident to old age more than any specific disease, and her end was peaceful, indeed welcome. Mrs. Macy was born and raised in Tennessee, and in her youth attended the same school with Sam Houston, afterwards a General and President of the Republic of Texas. Her reminiscenses of the warrior statesman in the days of his boyhood were interesting to listen to. Mrs. Macy lived and died a member of the Society of Friends, commonly called Quakers, and her funeral services were conducted at the residence of the deceased Tuesday at 11 o'clock a. m., by Adelbert Wood, a minister of that society, from Kansas City, Mo., an old friend of the family, his remarks being very impressive and consoling.
