George W. Lyon.
 
George W. Lyon died at his home in this city Thursday August 7, 1913, at the age of forty-three. Mr. Lyon had been ill ever since the death of his son on July 18. He leaves a wife and five children. The funeral serv ices were held at the M. E. church Saturday afternoon by Rev. Zook. and burial was made in Olathe cemetery. The sympathy of all goes out to this sorrowing family.
 
The following obituary was read at the funeral:
George Washington Lyon was born in Farmer Cty, Ill., Aug. 7, 1869, and died at 8:15 a. m.. Aug. 7, 1913. He married Anna Kennedy March 4, 1894 in Olathe and to this union were born six children. Mr. Lyon with his wife joined the M, E. church the year of his marriage and was a member of this church till his death. The first four years of his married life, he farmed in Anderson and Johnson counties. They came to Olathe in 1898 where they have lived since, except two years residence in Kansas City. For the last seven years he has been an employe of the Standard Oil Company. Mr. Lyon's life was one of usefulness and helpfulness to others. He was a well known and highly respected citizen. His business life was straightforward and upritrht. He was a friend to be trusted. His home life was most happy and his cheerful, sympathetic disposition won him many friends.
 
He leaves a wife and five children, Roy having died three weeks ago, three brothers. Messrs. Ben Lyon of Edgerton, Henry Lyon of Spring Hill, Albert Lyon of Baldwin and a sister, Mrs. J. Durflinger of Merriam, to mourn his death.
