JOHN COULTER LORIMER.
 
John Coulter Lorimer was born in County Antrim, Ireland, Oct, 20, 1845. With his parents he came to this country at the age of three residing In New York City for a time. Later his parents moved near Newoncorn, Ohio, where he resided on the farm until past seventeen years of age. He enlisted during the civil war in 78th Ohio serving until its close. He was a private under Gen. Sherman and was with Sherman in his march to the sea.
 
After the war he came farther west locating near Greenwood, Mo., on a farm on Thanksgiving day 1867 coming to Kansas in 1868, where he bought the old homestead east of Olathe. On September 30, 1873, he was united in marriage to Sadie Walker. To this union were born seven sons Boyd, Fred, Charles, Dean; Claude, George and Lee, who with their mother still survive. All were present at the time of his death except Charles.
 
Mr. Lorimer united with the United Presbyterian church at the age of sixteen and lived a faithful and con-sistant life until his death. He became an elder of the Olathe congregation in 1878 having previously serv ed as an elder while residing at Green wood, Mo. Mr. Lorimer lived on his farm until 1909 when he movd to the present home on east Loula Street. He has been in poor health for five and one-half years of. which three and one-half have been spent in his bed. The angel of death called him home to Eternal Rest on his birthday Oct. 20, 1914 at 10:30 p. m. He at time-of death being sixty-nine years.
