The Life of Clayton Wesley McCoy

Clayton Wesley “Mac” McCoy, age 89, Olathe, Kansas, passed away January 2, 2014, at home. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, January 6, 2014, at McGilley & Frye, burial in Olathe Memorial Cemetery.Visitation will be 3:00 to 5:00 PM, January 5, 2014, at McGilley & Frye. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.

Mr. McCoy was born July 26, 1924, in Selma, Kansas. He married Carlene McCoy February 29, 1964. He was employed by Santa Fe Railroad for 38 ½ years, retiring in July 1984. He served in WW2 on LST’s in the European and Pacific theaters. He was a lifetime member of Legion Post 153, VFW Post 1980 of Emporia, and a 59 year member of Emporia Masonic Lodge 12.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Miller and Ruth McCoy, and his sister Velma Joy Leslie.

Survivors include his wife Carlene, daughters Sherry McCoy and husband Robert Swartz of Los Angeles, Donna and husband Royce McCoy-Harms of Overland Park; Susan and husband Scott Payne of Lenexa; Kerry and husband Cliff Sull of Emporia; sons Randell and wife Lynne of Weatherford, TX; Dan and wife Jane of Emporia; John and wife Brenda of Emporia; 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
