OBITUARY
Charles N. Johnson was born in Monrow Co., Ohio Sept. 30th, 1844.
 
In 1852 Mr. Johnson's parents moved to Iowa where he resided twenty-seven years. June 11th, 1901 he moved to his present home adjoining Olathe, Kansas where he resided continuously until he departed this life, February 18th, 1915.
 
Mr. Johnson was a patriotic and devoted citizen. At the early age of seventeen he enlisted in Co. C. 15th Iowa Regulars, and served until the close of the Civil war, when he was honorably discharged and again engaged in the happier pursuits of peace.
 
March 15th, 1868 Mr. Johnson was married to Miss Harriet N. Webster in Iowa. To this union two daughters were born, Miss Clara M. Johnson and Mrs. P. K. Ralekin of Kansas City, Mo. Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, these two daughters, a brother, sister and his son-in-law, P. K. Ralekin.
 
Mr. Johnson was a man of sterling integrity, upright and honorable in all his actions, respected and esteemed by all his neighbors and acquaintances. He was a kind and devoted father who lived a life worthy of so noble a character. The Independent joins with his friends and neighbors in tendering to his bereaved family our deepest and most sincere sympathy in this their dark hour of bereavement.
 
The funeral services were conducted from the residence at two o'clock Saturday afternoon, Rev. H. O. Harvey officiating and burial was made in the Olathe cemetery.
