The Life of Alice H Lamasney
MRS. ALICE LAMASNEY
Mrs. Alice Lamasney, wife of Jas. Lamasney, died at her home, 315 West Park street, Saturday, April 15, 1916, at the age of seventy years and two months.
She was born in Columbus, Ohio, January 21st, 1846 and in 1859 came to make her home in Olathe, and this place has since been her residence. She was the originator of the Old Settlers Picnic which Olathe celebrates every year.
The funeral services were conducted from the Presbyterian church at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, April 18, Rev. Riepma officiating, and burial was made in the Olathe cemetery.
She leaves to mourn her death, her husband, and three sons, Ben, Ivory and J. H. Jr., all of Olathe, and a daughter, Mrs. W. P. Upton, of Kansas City, and a daughter, Mrs. Kittle Dutch, of Chicago, Illinois, besides a host of grand-children and friends. The many beautiful floral offerings at the funeral tell of the high esteem in which she was held by all who knew her. About fifteen years ago she was Olathe's sole greenhouse agent and was remembered by many Kansas City firms for which she sold flowers. She was a good wife. a good mother, a good neighbor and friend, and for many years a member of the Presbyterian church. She is probably better known over Johnson county than any other lady in the county and highly esteemed by all.
