The Life of Mamie M Mahaffie

Miss Mamie Mahaffie, the eighteen- year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Mahaffie, died at their home five miles north of this city on Wednesday morning. She was an usually bright, amiable young woman who was very popular with all who knew Iher. Her death is a sad blow to her parents, who will have the sympathy of the entire community.

Death of Miss Mamie Mahaffie.

"Who in her youthful beauty died.
That sweet fair blossom That grew up and faded
By our side."

On January 19, 1898, the Angel of Death visited this community, taking from our midst Mamie the elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William B. Mahaffie.
Mamie was nineteen years, eight months and nineteen days old. She leaves a loving father, mother, sister and three brothers to whom all extend heartfelt sympathy in their sad bereavement. She also leaves a host of friends to mourn her sad loss.
The first to break the family circle, she is also the first whom Death has called from among her associates at Grand View. Mamie had been a member and constant attendant and helper in Grand View Sabbath school for over five years. Her place there can never be filled. There's a place that is vacant beside the bright fire and a voice that is hushed in our Sunday School choir.
Only a few short weeks ago she was among us the gayest, happiest of us all. Oh, had it been but told us to "mark whose lamp was dim, from out our ranks, dear friends, would we have singled her?" And yet we know all things work together for good to those who love God. Being a general favorite among us all she has been chosen by the Father in His infinite wisdom to lead the way to that home where pain and sorrow shall cease and peace and joy reign supreme.
