HERMAN--Mrs. Kate S. Herman, 56 years old, for seven years superintendent of the state school for the deaf in Olathe, died May 5th. Mrs. Herman had been associated with the school 14 years, the first seven as an oral instructor. She was the widow of Judge. J. Ralph Herman, attorney and newspaperman, who died in 1896 [note: his gravestone says 1897]. Burial was in Olathe Cemetery. (Kansas City Star, May 12, 1920)
