The Life of Margaret Kellogg

Death of Mrs. Margaret Moore Kellogg

Margaret, daughter of William and Mary J. Moore, was born May 7, 1847, in McHenry county, Ills., and died in her home in Olathe, August 7, 1923, at the age of 76 years and three months.

Her childhood days were spent in Illinois and when she was about 12 years of age the family moved to Kansas, settling in Olathe. Here she was married to H.A. Kellogg, December 28, 1868. The first two and one half years of their married life were spent in Illinois. They returned to Kansas in 1871 and moved to Anderson county ten years later where they remained until 1904, when they moved to Oklahoma. Because of the ill health of Mrs. Kellogg they returned to Olathe last September.

For more than four and one half years Mrs. Kellogg has been a sufferer. Through all of these years she has been forever patient and cheerful, appreciative of all kindnesses and attentions shown. The shock of a broken hip was too much for her weakened condition and she quietly passed from all earthly suffering.

Two children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Kellogg; Phebe Jane, who died in 1915, and Hiram J., of Olathe. She also leaves two brothers and one sister, W. J. Moore of Olathe, Miss Anna Moore, of  Olalthe, and Herbert Moore of Denver, Colo.

She was a member of the Knights and Ladies lode. Early in life Mrs. Kellogg became a Christian and church member. Faithful has she been to these privileges when health permitted.

Aside from relatives mentioned she leaves a host of friends in the different places where she has made her home, who unite with us  to mourn a loved one gone.
