Death of D. l. Jack

David Luther Jack was born at Macksburgh, Morgan County, Ohio, January 5, 1864 and died at his home in Olathe, Johnson County, Kansas, February 25th, 1929, being at the time of his death 85 years, a month and 20 days.

He was married to Nancy E. Hindman at Malta, Ohio, on December 22, 1865. She died at Olathe in September 28, 1918. He is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth Hubbell of Olathe, two grandchildren, David L. Hubbell of Topeka, Kansas; Bessie Pepper of Coldwater, Kansas, and three great grand children.

In 1861 he enlisted in company E, 92nd Ohio Voluntary Infantry and served his country four years during the Civil War.

He came to Kansas in 1896, lived in and out of Olathe for 60 years and for the past 48 years in the same house at No. 321 South Cheery Street.

He was a carpenter by trade and in his day was Olathe’s best inside finish workman. He was a past Grand Master of Harmony Lodge No. 59 Independent Order of Odd Fellows. A strong believer in the principles of friendship, love and truth and exemplified those principle by his actions among his neighbors and friends.

He was always true to his friends, loved his home and his family and spent his latter days in peace and quiet.

Funeral services were conducted from the home at 2:30 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, February 27th, conducted by Rev. Braden of the Methodist church. Interment was made in Olathe cemetery.
