Mrs. Mary Ann Frey
Mary Ann Beckner, daughter of John and Elizabeth Beckner, was born Nov. 16, 1837 near Fincastle, Va., and is the last of the family of 10 children. When 10 years of age, the family moved near Salem, Va. In 1871 Mrs. Frey removed to Verdin, Ill. Two years later she married Noah W. Riffey and to this union one son, Emery, was born. In 1879 Mr. and Mrs. Riffey moved to Johnson County, Kans., and resided many years on a farm near Lone Elm southwest of Olathe.

The son, Emery, died October 20, 1897. Mr. Riffey died March 12 of the next year. About 5 years later Mrs. Riffey was married to Jonah R. Frey and they moved to Olathe. In May 1920 occurred Mr. Frey's death. For nearly 24 years, 203 E. Elm has been Mrs. Frey's residence. After a short illness she passed away on Jan 6, 1931, at her home in Olathe.
