The Life of Mary J Hunt

IN REMEMBRANCE.

Died of Brights Disease at her home 536 East Park street, Olathe, Kansas, May 2nd, 1908, Mary J., wife or Aretus L. Hunt, aged 60 years, 5 months and 7 days.

Mary J. Capperrune was born near Yates City, Knox county, Ill., November 24, 1847. Three years later she moved with her parents to Bureau county, Illinois, where she continued to reside until the spring of 78, when she came to Stanley, Johnson county, Kansas, to visit her sister, Mrs. David L. Gemmell, whose death in Olathe occurred four years ago.

August 1st, 1878, she was married to Aretus L. Hunt of Stanley, where they resided until October, 1899, when they moved to the beautiful home, where they have since lived.

Mrs. Hunt was a charter member of the Grange in her Illinois home, bringing to her western home the spirit of a true Patron of Husbandry, she joined the order in Stanley. Afterward, when moving to Olathe, she transfered her membership to the Olathe grange. Members of the order will cherish in memory her cheerful and efficient labors. While living in Stanley she was for some time a valued teacher in the Sabbath school and an appreciated member of the Local Reading Circle. While health permitted she was a member of the Progress club of Olathe. '

She was a faithful and enthusiastic member of the Relief Corps of Olathe, serving as president in 1904. The members attended her funeral in a body. She united with the Methodist Episcopal church in Olathe in 1904. A consistent Christian, an earnest helper in the different departments of church work, her loss will be greatly felt.

Mrs. Hunt was one of a family of six children, four of whom are still living, a half-sister, Mrs. Emily Snow of Cambridge, IIl.; two brothers, Irvin and Thomas Capperrune of Bradford, Ill., and a half brother, Frank Corbln, of Bradford, Ill. The brothers were all present at the funeral.

A sister of Mr. Hunt, Mrs. Carrie Higgins of Amherst, Neb., was also present, having been with them during the sad hours of the past four weeks. Her husband arrived for the funeral.

For almost thirty years Mr. and Mrs. Hunt have enjoyed together a calm prosperous happy life. She was a devoted wife, a helpmeet in every sense of the word. The blow falls very heavily on Mr. Hunt as having no children, it leaves him alone in the home.

Mrs. Hunt had been in poor health for the past year but courageous and uncomplaining, ever hopeful of recovery.

She peacefully fell asleep in Jesus at 4 o'clock Saturday morning. Funeral services were conducted in the M. E. church in Olathe, Monday at 2 p .m., by the pastor, Rev. O. M. Bowman, assisted by Rev. E. M. ' Paddlef ord of Lenexa.

The church was tastefully decorated and the floral tributes were numerous and beautiful, silent messengers of sympathy from different orders, relatives and friends." The remains were laid to rest in Olathe cemetery, followed by a large concourse of sympathizing friends. A. E. M.
