The Life of Dorothy M Hayes

No services are planned for Dorothy M. Hayes, 70, Baldwin City. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date in the Olathe City Cemetery. She has been taken for cremation.
Mrs. Hayes died Friday, Sept. 3, 2010, at Brandon Woods Arbor in Lawrence.

She was born Oct. 18, 1939, in De Soto, the daughter of Howard and Amelita Wilson McConnell. She attended schools in De Soto, graduating from De Soto High School with the class of 1957.
Mrs. Hayes was a member of the Ives Chapel United Methodist Church in Baldwin City, where she was the treasurer for many years. She worked for Roberson Insurance Agency in Olathe, Peoples Bank in Ottawa, and most recently as a bank teller for Baldwin State Bank, where she retired in 1999.
She married Duane Hayes on May 7, 1960, in Olathe. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Kenneth Hayes, Baldwin City; a former daughter-in-law, Jennifer, Baldwin City; two grandchildren; and two sisters, Margaret Pirtle, Olathe, and Evelyn Suddarth, Gardner.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Clifford McConnell.

The family suggests memorials to the Heart of America Hospice and/or The Employees Recognition Committee at Brandon Woods, sent in care of Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, P.O. Box No. 64, Baldwin City, KS 66006.
