The Life of Lydia Gehman

 Obituary.
Mrs. B. F. Gehman died June 2, 1920, at her home adjoining Hagerman, New Mexico. Her, maiden name was Lydia Meyers, the daughter of the late Absalom Meyers, of Olathe, Kansas.

She was born February 27, 1879,  near Harlan, Iowa. When she was but a baby her father moved his family to Ontario, Canada. Five years later he moved to Peabody, Kan., then to Olathe, Kan. The school days of Mrs. Gehman were spent at Peabody and Emporia, Kansas. . In early life she gave ber heart to the Lord and definitely decided to lead a life which leads Heavenward. Since that time she has been a consistent, earnest and faithful Christian.

April 2, 1904 she married Mr. Ben Gehman of Olathe. Ben and Lydia spent the first seven years of their married life on a farm near Olathe. In the spring of 1911, they moved to Hagerman, in the famous Pecos .Valley of New Mexico, where they have lived until the present time. Here they built a beautiful home, were prosperous and successful in their undertakings and became a prominent and effective factor in the social and community life.

At Hagerman Mrs. Gehman and her family joined the Methodist church; she was a member of the church choir and became an active Christian worker. In her home life she was a devoted, faithful wife and mother. She leaves a daughter and husband, three brothers, four sister, and a host of relatives and friends to mourn her loss. Her last wish and earnest desire was to meet her Savior and friends over there and sing "Hallelujah Choruses' forever more in the Heavenly choir.  Lydia was laid to rest June 6, in the Olathe cemetery by the side of her daughter, Yeta, who died in 1906.
