The Life of Louisa Jane Dennis

Mrs. Louisa Dennis

Louisa J. Barnett daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anderson barnett was born the 23rd day of march 1844 near Knoxville, Illinois. She was married the 14th day of March 1863, to John W. Dennis and continued to reside near Knoxville until about 1867 when she and hr husband came west to kansas, making the trip in a covered wagon. In a short time they settled on a far, near Belton, Missouri. In 1879 they moved to Olathe and the next spring settled on a farm one and one half miles southwest of Olathe, where she amd her husbamnd resided until 1893 when they moved to town. Mr. Dennis passed away on July 8, 1903.

She has resided in Olathe continuously except for a short residence at Shawnee, Oklahoma, and Los Angeles, California.

Until failing eyesight prevente3d her doing any reading she found much comfort in reading her Bible and committed to memory several of the Psalms, which she often repeated to herself after she could not read. She believed in the life beyond the grave and for sometime has been prepared and willing to go to her reward.

Mrs. Dennis passed away at 3:30 a.m. June 24th at Bethany Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas, where she was taken after a fall the Monday before.

She is survived by three sons, W. F. Dennis, Oklahoma City, Okla., Carl Dennis, Los Angeles, Calif., and ElL. Dennis, Kansas city, Kansas. Also three sisters, and one brother, being, Mrs. nancy Colwell, Oklahoma City, Okla., Mrs. irene Hills, El Monte, Calif., and Mrs. Alice Turner, Longmont, Colorado and Mr. A Barnett, McCook,. Nebraska. She also leaves four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 26, at 10 o'clock from Julien's Chapel. Rev. Daniels officiating. Interment in the family lot in the Olathe Cemetery.
