Mary Margaret Grove was born on a cloudy, Tuesday morning, January 24, 1995. Her courageous and hard fought battle with pulmonary hypertension ended on a beautiful, spring-like morning, January 28, 2013.

Mary filled every day of her 18 years with activity. She was a Senior at her much beloved KSD (Kansas School for the Deaf) and had attended there since she was 4 years old. She was currently the Student Body President, the Class of 2013 President, she served as the volleyball manager, was active in drama class and had been a football homecoming candidate. Mary was recently named a Kansas Honor Scholar (top 10% of her class). She was a member of the KSD Academic Bowl Team and just returned from a competition in Salt Lake City where her team took 3rd place and qualified for nationals in Washington DC. Mary had previously won an Optimist Scholarship.

Mary Margaret is survived by her parents Mike and Kelly Grove and sisters Cecelia and Katherine, all of Olathe, KS. Grandparents Rick & Donna Grove, Pete & Sue Carlton, Great Grandmother Freda Bailey, all of Carthage, MO and Great Grandfather Don Moore of Carl Junction, MO, many aunts, uncles, and 12 first cousins. She was preceded in death by her uncle Erick Grove, Great Grandparents: Nonie & Cudie Carlton, Papa Bailey, Grandma & Grandpa Grove, and Grandma Moore. Mary had many loves: old movies, pictures, her home, and family.

She especially loved KSD with every ounce of her being. She was a strong advocate for Deaf Culture and ASL. Mary’s life will continue in a new form through her generous donation of organ, bone, and tissue.

The Rosary will be prayed on Thursday, January 31 at 6pm, with visitation to follow until 8pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am on Friday, February 1, 2013. Both will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church in Olathe.
