The Life of Caroline Darrin

Mrs. Caroline Darrin.
(Died, at the home of her daughter in Olathe, on August 23, 1898, of paralysis, Mrs. Caroline Darrin, aged eighty-eight years.)
The deceased, whose maiden name was Hober, was born in Deleware county, New York, May 16, 1810. At the age of 22 she was married to David Darrin, a native of New York, at the town of Troopsburg, Steuben County, N. Y. There were born to them seven children, of whom three are now living Mrs. H. S. Church of Olathe, Mr. J. H. Darrin of Sterling Run, Pa., and Mr. N. B. Darrin of Potter county, Pa.
The husband and two surviving sons each volunteered and went to the front in the war of the rebellion in defense of their country. After the death of her husband Mrs. Darrin came to Olathe where she has since resided with her daughter and has won the love and esteem of every one, old and young, who knew her. While she was not a member of any church organization she was a christian woman and her whole life has been devoted to the practical work of Christianity deeds of kindness and charity. She has performed the mission of life faithfully and well and has gone to her peaceful sleep at a good old age, honored and remembered by all for the good she has done in the world.
