The Life of Walter Freeman Carter Sr

WALTER FREEMAN CARTER

Mr. Walter Freeman Carter was born in Mercer county, Missouri, August 28, 1872. He was the second child of a family of four children, having one elder sister and two younger brothers. All these and his parents survive him.

On July 13, 1902, he was united in marriage to Miss Tidwell Meador, of Texas county, Missouri. To them were born four children, three of whom two little daughters and one baby boy are living, a little daughter having been called away before the father.

After more than a year of very great suffering, on the evening of December 13, 1912, Jesus came "to receive him to Himself that he might be with Him in glory."

Mr. Carter was always a temperate, industrious man, and was for more 'than thirteen years in the employment of the Frisco Railroad Company. He was a loving and thoughtful husband and father, always mindful of those dear to him. He was always patient during his suffering. During the last summer he professed his faith in Christ and, to those closely associated with him, his growth in Christian life has been beautiful. After he had found peace in Jesus, he was anxious that those dear to him should also know the "peace that passeth understanding." His death was a beautiful example of loving trust in his Savior.

A funeral sermon was preached at the home of the deceased at 2 o'clock Sabbath afternoon by Rev. W. A. Ai-kin of the Reformed Presbyterian church on the text, John 3:16.  Following this service the Woodman Order took charge of the remains.
