GEORGE W. GIFFORD

Geo. W. Gifford, second son of Joseph and Mary Gifford, died at his home in LaCygne, Kansas, Wednesday evening, March 15th, 1916, at eight o'clock, at the age of thirty-seven years, five months and twenty-four days. The funeral services were conducted from the Methodist church on last Saturday afternoon, Rev. S. F. Riepma officiating, and burial was made in the Olathe cemetery.

Geo. W. Gifford was born in Johnson County, Kansas, and has made his home here practically all his life. A number of years he was engaged in the plumbing and tinning business in Olathe with his brother, Ben Gifford. He leaves to mourn his death, a wife, formerly Miss Mina Parsley, a son two years old, and a son a few months old, his mother, Mrs. N. S. Gifford, his brother and five sisters. He was a devoted husband and a kind and indulgent father; to his sist ers a tender brother to his friends the soul of fellowship.

The many beautiful floral offerings testify to the love and esteem in which he was held by his old neighbors and friends.

"How sweet a life was his, how sweet a death;
Living to wing with mirth the merry hours,
Or with his genial tales the heart to cheer;
Dying, to leave a memory like the heath Of Summer,
full of sunshine and flowers,
A grief and sadness in the atmosphere."
