The Life of Glenn Raymond Coulter

Glenn R. Coulter, 82, of Topeka passed away July 30, 2008. He was born November 8, 1925 in Quinter, Kansas to Ray and Lena Coulter.

Glenn was a 1943 graduate of Topeka High School and served in the United States Navy during WWII, stationed in the Marshall Islands. He graduated from Washburn University in 1949 with a degree in Business Administration. While in college he served as President of the senior class and editor of the Washburn Review, and was a member of Sagamore and Alpha Delta fraternity.

Glenn maintained a strong interest in Washburn after his graduation, serving as Alumni Director and Assistant to the President from 1950-1954. He also served two terms as President of the Ichabod Club and at the time of his death was an emeritus member of the Washburn Endowment Board of Trustees.

He is an elder and past Clerk of the Session of the First Presbyterian Church of Topeka. Glenn also served as a member and past President of the Board of Trustees of the Presbyterian Manor and a past member of the Downtown Topeka Rotary Club.

Glenn was active in the construction industry in Kansas for over 50 years, serving as Manager of the Kansas Contractors Association and most recently as Executive Director of the Kansas Good Roads Association. He also served as President of the Society of Association Executives.

Glenn married Nadine Welch in 1952 and she survives.

Other survivors include his daughter and her husband, Susie and Steve Zimmerman, Olathe, and two grandchildren, Sarah and Matthew Zimmerman.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, August 4, at First Presbyterian Church, Topeka.

Private inurnment will be in Olathe Memorial Cemetery, Olathe, KS.
