ARLAND RICHARD “TUFFY” BRUCE, SR.

Age 75, of Olathe, KS, passed away June 18, 2006 at his home. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 21, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 14275 S. Blackbob Rd., Olathe. Funeral services will be Thursday, June 22 at 10:00 a.m., also in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment, Olathe Memorial Cemetery. Arland was born on November 16, 1930 in Olathe, KS, to John and Rosetta Bruce. He graduated from Olathe High School in 1949, and began working for the Beck and Dennis Chevrolet dealership. In May of 1951, he married Louise Bolton, and to this union six children were born. In 1969, he joined Delco (Delphi), eventually retiring in 1999.
He enjoyed spending his time reading, fishing, watching western movies, and above all, spending time with friends and family.
Arland is survived by his children; Wathenia L. Pratt, Olathe, KS, Arland Bruce, Jr., California, Rita (Leo) Washington, Kansas City, MO, Gordon (Tonia) Bruce, Olathe, KS, Michael (Verla) Bruce, Kansas City, KS, Rodney (Shelley), of Olathe, KS. He is also survived by his brother, John Bruce, Olathe, KS, and his sister, Florine Williamson, Long Beach, CA, two-step children; Sylvester and Pam Oliver of Kansas City, MO, and 23 grand-children and 33 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise in 1958, and a son, Steve Carter.
