The Life of Jane M Curtis

MRS. J. M. CURTIS DEAD.

Last Sunday afternoon at 5 o'clock occurred the death of Mrs. James M. Curtis at her home 430 South Cherry street, after an illness of less than a week. On Monday, July 22, she accompanied Mrs. L. W. Jones up town and while doing some shopping she became suddenly ill  and went immediately home. She grew rapidly worse and early Tuesday morning was operated upon by a specialist from Kansas City. She passed through this ordeal succes fully and her physicians announced that she would probably regain her health, but Sunday proved a fatal day. About 1 o'clock in the morning a relapse came and she passed away at 5 o'clock in the evening.

The funeral services were held from the M. E. church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. O. M. Bowman, and were attended by a very large number of friends and relatives.

Jane M. Masters was born In Somerset Shire, England, October 13, 1844. In London on June 14, 1869, she was united In marriage to James M. Curtis and the same year they came to Kansas and to Olathe, where they have since resided, except about a year spent in Colorado.

To this union were born three children, two of whom are still livng Miss Rose, and Mrs. Margaret Foggy of Phoenix, Arizona. Mrs. Foggy reached the bedside of her mother only about four hours prior to her ldeath. The deceased was a devoted Christian mother and wife. Her family was a happy one. For many years she has been a faithful member of the M. E. church and her residence of thirty-eight years  in Olathe and her splendid Christian character were rewarded by a very arge circle of loving friends who mourn her death.
