The Life of Raymond Bowers

Raymond "Dale" Bowers, 67, of Olathe, Kansas passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, September 28, 2013. Dale was born on May 26, 1946 in Benkelman, Nebraska to Glen and Leota M. (Confer) Bowers. He will forever be 

remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to everyone he met. 

Dale attended and graduated from Bird City High School. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force during Vietnam. He married the love of his life, Linda J. Lambeth on October 18, 1966. He enjoyed driving his boat and fishing. Nothing gave him more pleasure than spending time with his family, watching the Kansas City Chiefs and KU Basketball. 

Dale is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Layle, Bob and Keith and brother-in-law Wally Underwood. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Linda Bowers of the home, son Travis D. Bowers of Overland Park, Kansas and daughter Karla K. Wright and her husband Chris of O'Fallon, Missouri. He will be sadly missed by his five grandchildren: Amanda Werdehausen and her husband Casey, Erika Wright, Brooke Bowers, Jourdan Bowers and Chloe Bowers. Dale is also survived by his four great grandchildren: Nevaeh, Kohen, Amary and Aquinah, two brothers Willard Bowers and his wife Joann of Limon, Colorado, Dan Bowers and his wife Jannell of St. Francis, Kansas, two sisters LaVonn Underwood of Bird City, Kansas and Elaine Kehlbeck of St. Francis, Kansas. 

A memorial service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2013 at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home 105 East Loula Street Olathe, Kansas 66061. lnurnment with military honors in Olathe Memorial Cemetery 738 Chestnut Street Olathe, Kansas 66061. Visitation will be 9:00 to 1 0:00a.m Saturday morning prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: American Legion Post- Earl Collier Post 153 410 Dennis Avenue Olathe, Kansas 66061.
