Friday evening our community was shocked by the information that the little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Bushong had swallowed some concentrated lye and was lying in the agonies of death. It seems that a can of concentrated lye had been in use during the day and had been placed in a box on the'\ gasoline stove, and that while the mother was absent from tne room the little child had climbed up, taken the box and in attempting to drink the solution, part of it entered the child's windpipe. Medical aid was at once summoned but nothi could be done. She lingered until Saturday afternoon when death mercifully came to her release. The stricken parents have the profound sympathy of all in this hour of their terrible bereavement.
