Death of Alfred T. Burris
Rev. Alfred T. Burris died at 11:30 a. m., Sunday, August 4, at the residence of his father, Judge John T. Burris, in North Olathe, in the 42d year of his age, with consumption.

The deceased came to Olathe from Iowa with his parents in 1858 when quite a young boy. He was educated in the public schools of Olathe, studied law with his father and was admitted to the bar in 1871. The law not being to his liking he entered the ministry of the M. E. church, his first field of labor being in the South Kansas Conference. Afterwards, in 1882, he joined the Southwest Kansas Conference and continued to work there until 1892 when he was compelled to relinquish his chosen calling on account of failing health, soon returning to Olathe, where he continued to reside during the remainder of his days.

Rev. Burris was an earnest, able and eloquent divine, and the church has lost one of its most faithful pulpit orators in his death. The funeral services were held at the M. E. church in Olathe on Monday, August 5, at 3 o'clock p. m., conducted by Rev. John Mc Quoid, assisted by Rev. Griffiths of Baldwin City and Rev. Stafford of Olathe, the large audience being an evidence of the respect in which the deceased was held by his old friends and neighbors.
