Sarah Jane Schreck was born March 14, 1842 at Laconia, Harrison Co., Indiana. She passed away at her home in Olathe February 20, 1930, at the age of 87 years, 11 months and 6 days.

She was married to W. H. Zimmerman, Sept. 19, 1861, and lived in her native country until 1870, at which time she and her family came to Kansas and located on a farm in the Eastern part of Johnson county, where the family lived until 1898 when Mr. and Mrs. Zimmerman moved to Olathe. Mr. Zimmerman passed away January 7, 1922, a few months after the couple had celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

She was the mother of 9 children, two of these died in childhood.

She leaves 7 children, Wm. E. Zimmerman of Olathe, Kas.; Clara B. McIntire, San Pedro, Calif.; Rebecca A Zimmerman, Olathe; George Zimmerman, Olathe; Mrs. Hattie M. Tullis, Overland Park; Charles E. Zimmerman, Olathe; Oscar A. Zimmerman, Kansas City, Mo. There are 14 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

The grandsons were the body bearers at the funeral service, which was in the Methodist church of which she was a lifelong member and faithful attendant. The services were conducted by Rev. E. W. Daniels on Sunday, February 23, at 2:30 P.M. Mrs. Zimmerman was a member of the Women's Relief Corps and of the Grange; also she was an enthusiastic lover of trees and flowers.
