The Life of Mary A Hunter

Mrs. Mary Galbraith Hunter

Mrs. Mary Galbraith Hunter was born at New Concord, Ohio, June 5, 1851. She was one of a family of four sons and six daughters. They were children of emminently [sic] Christian parents and the family was widely known for its fidelity to the church and its principles. Mrs. Hunter came with her parents to Olathe about 1870 and with them united with the church here.

She was married to John Hunter, January 18, 1877 and was ever a devoted wife and a most loving mother.

She was never too busy with her household cares to give a helping hand to those who were sick or in need, and the memory of her many kindly deeds can never be effaced.

Mrs. Hunter was the last of her family and the last charter member of the Woman's Missionary Society, of which she was a valued and beloved member.

Her husband preceded her to the eternal home by four months and six days. He being called April 8 of this year while her summons came, August 14, 1930.

Surviving are her three children, Mrs. Anna Watt of Denver, Colorado, Miss Jane Hunter of Washington, D. C., and Robert Hunter of Independence, Missouri.

Her children rise up and call her blessed and her own works praise her in the gates.

Mrs. Mary Hunter

Mrs. Mary Galbraith Hunter was born at New Concord, O., June 5, 1851. She came to Kansas as a young girl in her teens and spent practically all her life in this community. She was married to John Hunter January 18, 1877 and lived in Morse until about 1900 when the family came to Olathe and located on East Loula Street. She passed away August 14, 1930.
