The Life of Charles Lester Huggins

Charles Lester Huggins, 84, of Olathe, Kan., passed away at his home Monday, January 5, 2009. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Olathe Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Lester was born, June 15, 1924, in Olathe where he has lived all his life. He was an Army veteran of WWII. He married Leona Young in 1946 (who preceded him in death 60 days ago). He was former Chief of Police in Olathe and then went to work at Delco Battery Plant where worked until his retirement. Lester was a member of the Earl Collier Post #153 of the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Anna Huggins; brothers, Herb, Junior, and Wayne; and a grandson, Tracy. Lester is survived by his children, C.L. (Diana) Huggins, Janeice (David) Rawles; and grandchildren, Mike, Dusty, Ben, and Shelby.
