James Price LeSueur, Prominent Citizen, Dies at age of 90

James Price LeSueur a prominent and pioneer citizen of Olathe, passed away Monday evening at his home on 609(?) Grant Avenue. An _____ condition resulting from advanced age, he was past 90 years, _______ contributed directly to his death. Mr. LeSueur had long held a prominent place in life of Johnson County. Few were better known and none were highly respected. A native of Kentucky and of French descent. Mr. LeSueur was born November 10, 1836. His mother, Catherine Price LeSueur, came from a prominent Southern family and was a first cousin of General Sterling Price, Confederate General. He spent is youth and early manhood in Clay County, MO. Born in the south, he sympathies were with the Confederacy and when the Civil War darkened the nation, James Price LeSueur cart(?) his lot with the land of his ancestors. He served under General Price. His military record was one to be proud of. He was in many important engagements, including the memorable sedge of Vicksburg, where he was wounded. Mr. LeSueur was united in marriage to Frances Elizabeth Woods of Clay County, March 5, 1867. They came to Johnson County in 1873, and he purchased a farm northeast of Olathe in 1904 and Mr. and Mrs. LeSueur moved to Olathe. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1916. Mr. LeSueur died June 26, 1921. The children of this union all of whom servive Mr. LeSueur, are: Miss Mattie, Kittie, Nora and Mary LeSueur, Mrs. Nancy Welverton of North Dekota, Jasper C. and James of Lexington Township and H. Clay of Monticello Township. A sister, Mrs. Endicott of Los Angeles, also survive. The funeral services are being held at the home today at 2'oclock. Rev. F. C. Everett of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will be at Olathe Memorial Cemetery.
