The Life of Alice Rebecca Jewett

DEATH OF MRS. H. L. JEWETT.

Alice Rebecca Mclntire was born in Armstrong, Pa., January 13, 1858, and came to Kansas with her parents in 1868. They settled In Douglass county, remaining there until the death of her parents in 1875, both dying within seven weeks, which necessarily divided the family. She was taken into the home of Dr. Still at Eudora, Kansas.

Deceased was married to Harry L. Jewett February 23, 1881. They have lived in or near Olathe ever since, moving to Rosedale, their present home, about two years ago. Some five years ago that dreaded disease, cancer, set in and after long months of suffering and doing all possible for her recovery without avail she finally became resigned to her fate and longed and prayed for the end.

Mrs. Jewett was converted and joined the M. E. church at High Prairie, when she was about 13 years of age and lived a faithful member of the same for several years. In her physical condition she was not able to attend the services as much as she desired.

She died June 3, 1908, 50 years, 5 months and 21 days. The remains were brought to Olathe Friday morning for burial. Funeral services were conducted from the Methodist church by Rev. R. V. Maioney oi Rosedaie, assisted by Rev. O. M. Bowman. The Rebeckah lodge had charge of the services at the grave. The deceased is survived by husband, two children, Jennie and Edward, four sisters, one, Mrs. J. D. Paris, residing in Olathe.
