Charles William Kessler

Charles William Kessler was born in Salem, Roanoke County, virginia, February 22, 1851 and passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. F.F. Florea in Kansas City, Missouri, on the morning of March 13, 1931.

He was united in marriage to Eliza Deaton, December 7, 1876. To this union were born five children, two of whom died in infancy: three, John W., Albany, Missouri; Roberta E. Ball and Olive May Florea of Kansas City, Missouri, survive. His wife departed this life April 14, 1891.

On March 5, 1894 he was united in marriage to Sarah Russell and to this union were born four children, Russell Kessler and Mrs. Nan Perkins, Olathe; Mrs. Edith Donham, LaCygne, Kansas and Edison of Kansas City, Kansas.

Surviving these and the wife are two sisters and one brother, Fairbury, Illinois, one step daughter, Mrs. Laura Murray of Lyons, Kansas, sixteen grandchildren and one great grandchild and a host of friends and neighbors to mourn his departure.

He came to Johnson County, Kansas in the spring of 1883 and has resided in this community ever since.

Early in life he united with the Baptist church and has been a faithful worker in the church until failing health reduced his abilities. His going means the loss of a true Christian, upright in every phase of life, patient and untiring until his master called his home.
