The Life of Robert Henry Owens

Robert H. (Bob) Owens, 82, Olathe, Kansas, passed away January 3, 2007 surrounded by his family at Olathe Medical Center. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in Bob’s name to the Grace United Methodist Church Bell Choir, 11485 South Ridgeview Road, Olathe, Kansas.
Mr. Owens was born in Hardin, Iowa on April 24, 1924 to Dewey Beniah Owens and Opal Blanche Crase Owens. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Homer Lee Owens; and his eldest son Gene Robert Owens.
Survivors include Bob’s loving wife Frances Louise Spencer Owens. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary November 9, 2006. Also surviving are his sons, Dewey Owens (Jane Zwanzig-Owens) and Homer (Pamela) Owens, all of Olathe, Richard (Karen) Owens, Springhill; daughters Kathyrn (William) Hogan, Wellsville, Laura Howard (Allan Fischer), Kansas City, Missouri, and Georgena (Brian) Wood, Kansas City, Kansas. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren; three sisters, Maxine Maurer, Corine (Joe) Hamre and Lorene Berndt, all of Minnesota; sister-in-law Theodora (Tom) Johnson; cousin, Doris Shull, Hale, Missouri; several nieces and nephews, and dear friends Eldon and Margaret Miller.
Bob retired from Hall Truck Line after 40 years. He was an avid bowler; loved to barbeque; was a lifetime member of the Olathe Jaycees; did woodworking; and enjoyed gardening. He was a loving husband, father and friend and will be greatly missed.
